Art Hive

An Art Hive is a community art studio that welcomes everyone as creative individuals.

It’s an inclusive and welcoming place, which can be thought of as a third space to share opportunities of dialogue, respect, art-making, skill-sharing, learning, and to build a community among people of different backgrounds in terms of socio-economics, cultures, generations, and abilities.

The spaces which Art Hives offer are inspiring. They encourage those who share the spaces to explore themselves, connect with others, and build communal solidarity across differences through individual / collective art / music-making.

Having resonated with this spirit of the Art Hives model, I expand on my individual clinical work by organizing Art Hives. The Japanese Creative Art Hive is the first Japanese Art Hive, open to any and all Japanese-speaking individuals around the world. I also run Art Hives Japan for the advocacy of the Art Hives model and the education of facilitators. In the past, I ran the Creative Music Hive for the psycho-social support of asylum-seeking families at the YMCA Residence in Montreal.
